Post Office Closure Plans secrecy is "outrageous"

Barry Stamp, Stafford Borough Council Liberal Democrat Group Leader has today condemned the government for failing to announce the details of the proposed closure of 2500 Post Offices across the country.
"It is outrageous that the Government are planning to close 2500 Post Offices but are refusing to announce which ones are under threat," said Barry. "Instead they will let the news trickle out over the next eighteen months. This is an appalling situation.With one in five Post Offices at risk it is almost certain that that we will lose post offices in this area."
"We must send a clear and strong message to the government saying that we value the service that the offices provide to their local communities and that it is time they came clean and explained their plans. Just giving the minimum of information is indefensible and leaves local communities worried and uncertain about their future."
