Stone Liberal Democrats to select Prospective Parliamentary Candidate

The Executive Committee of Stone Liberal Democrats last night decided to proceed with the selection process for the appointment of a parliamentary candidate. The vacancy will soon be advertised and party members will have the opportunity to select the candidate from an approved shortlist sometime during the summer.
In the meantime the Executive Committee chose Richard Stevens to act as the party's parliamentary spokesperson. "I am pleased to have been appointed as parliamentary spokesperson, " said Richard. "Until such time as a prospective candidate is selected, it is important to have one person available locally to deal with issues relating to parliamentary matters."
Richard was the parliamentary candidate for Stone in the 2005 General Election and increased the Libdem share of the vote by almost 5%.
