Dog fouling problems in Church Eaton

Councillor Barry Stamp

Dog fouling in Church Eaton is once again on the rise claims Barry Stamp Stafford Borough Councillor for Church Eaton Ward. He said he was extremely concerned that a few residents were allowing their dogs to foul the verges and footpath throughout the Village.

"Over the last few months the problem of dog fouling in Church Eaton has got steadily worse and it now seems as if every patch of grass or length of pavement is affected", said Barry. "It's clear from talking to residents that the majority of pet owners in the Village clean up after their dog, and that the problem lies with just one or two people."

"However, although everyone is concerned, no-one is prepared to report the offenders and then perhaps give evidence against them if the Borough Council take them to court. Time and time again the Parish Council has asked witnesses to come forward - but to no avail."

"I am extremely concerned that this problem even occurs on the footpath outside the school. Not only is the mess unsightly but it can also get on children's shoes and as everyone knows dog faeces are a major health risk to children. Something must be done. In the next few days I will be arranging to meet with the Borough Council's dog warden on site in the Village to look at the problem, but I do think the only answer is for the residents to join together and come forward and report the irresponsible dog owners. I would urge anyone who has seen this fouling taking place to contact me, in confidence if they wish. At least then I can get the dog warden to target the pet owners in question."

"It will be far too late to take action once a child is blinded", said Councillor Stamp
