Improved disabled access ahead?
Yesterday, the final part of the Disability Discrimination Act came into force and Richard Stevens, Stone Libdem Chairman, attended a ceremony in the Mayor's Parlour in Stafford to mark the occasion. "The Act is an important step forward to ensure that suppliers of services and goods take all reasonable steps to ensure disabled access to their premises" explained Richard.
Richard, Vice Chairman of the Stone Access Group, welcomes the Act and has pledged his support to a campaign to ensure compliance by local businesses. "We have worked with many businesses over the last few months and many access problems have been resolved. But there are still many premises which do not comply with the new Act and these will need to be suitably modified. We must make sure the provisions of the Act are complied with"
