The Boundary Committee's final recommendations for new electoral divisions for Staffordshire County Council elections have been welcomed by Stone Liberal Democrats.
"I am delighted that the report accepts our submission that the Stone division should comprise the three borough wards and that the County Council's proposals to put parts of the Stonefield and Christchurch ward into the Barlaston seat have been rejected" said Richard Stevens.
Stone Liberal Democrats submitted detailed proposals to the Committee several of which were contained in the final report. The major change of significance is that Barry Stamp's existing division of Gnosall has now been extended to include parts of Tillington and the whole of Doxey in a new division to be called Gnosall and Doxey.
"On balance, the final recommendations are to be welcomed" said Richard. "They create divisions which make the best geographical sense and which are of a more even distribution of electors."
